Frederick R. Mathews D.D.S., M.S., M.P.H.

Dr. Mathews was born in Los Angeles California.  He started his practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Sonora in 1988.  He and his wife and daughters have lived in the Sonora area since.  He completed his undergraduate degree at Pacific Union College in 1978.  In 1983 he earned his D.D.S. degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and his M.P.H. degree from Loma Linda University School of Health.  In 1987 he completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center and received a M.S. degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

He has published in several medical and dental journals and presented at numerous dental and medical meetings.  He is a member of both the American and California Dental Association as well as the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and both the American and California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Mathews has an active concern for the health of residents in this region of the Sierra foothills.  He is a long time member of Sonora Regional Medical Centers Governing Board.  He also maintains surgical privileges there and at the Sonora Surgery Center. He is a committed husband, father, and surgeon whose goal is to provide compassionate Oral and Maxillofacial  Surgical care to his patients. 

He has dedicated himself to improving the quality of life for our foothill communities by becoming a leader in the field of dentoalveolar, dental implant, and reconstructive surgery and office anesthesia.
